Particle tracing

Particle tracing is a feature that has been added to Agros2D very recently. The equations of motion of charged particles are calculated to show their behavior in the previously calculated field (electrostatic, magnetic, or other). We demonstrate this feature on an example of a device used for separation of different components of recycled material. The scheme of such a separator is shown in the figure below.

First, the distribution of electric field potential was calculated. The hp-adaptivity was used, since it is very efficient for electrostatic problems. In the figure below we can see a fine mesh, that has been created by an automatic adaptivity algorithm. It can be seen, that the mesh is very fine close to the singularities of the field and various polynomial degrees are used in order to minimize the solution error.

In the figure we can see the distribution of electric potential and traces of several particles, as they are directed to the right-hand side container of the separator. The electric field acts differently on each type of the particle, which is the principle of the separation. The gravitation force and drag (aerodynamic) forces are also considered.
