Flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machines belong to the family of variable reluctance machines (VRMs) with permanent magnets. Their principal advantage is a very simple construction of their rotors, which is the reason why the VRMs are used in a number of applications. On the other hand, their control is rather complicated and cannot be realized without knowledge of their operation characteristics. The basic arrangement of the analyzed FSPM machine is consists of two permanent magnets, two coils, stator with four poles and a five-pole rotor.
